Happy 10th Birthday Ronin!!!

Dear Ronin,

I apologize that this birthday post is late. My website crashed for a bit, and then we went on vacation. I hope you know how much you are loved.

I'm not quite sure how it happened. I blinked and you have gone from our little walrus (gosh how we all loved this nickname for you!!) into a fun loving, intelligent, young man. Double digits, dude.

I love that you picked this cake out all on your own. You thought the flowers on it were cool.

I can't wait to see what your 10th year brings you!

I think you ROCK!

Happy Birthday Ella

Happy 11th Birthday Ella!!

Today you turn 11.

It doesn't seem like 11 years ago you entered the world at dawn, in a flower garden with only your daddy and I there. It was magical and will always be one of the BEST days of my life. This is your first photo with your daddy and your big sister Haley. You two love each other so much. You truly are the best of friends and it warms my heart to see how much you enjoy being with one another.

At your first birthday party you were so happy. Ronin joined our family only a few days later and your world got turned upside down.

Now at age 11 you LOVE all things nature. You love to be outside. You love the ocean, swimming, fishing, and you are ALWAYS up for an adventure.

I can't wait to see what this next decade of your life will bring for you. Your first kiss, your first boyfriend. You'll learn to drive and you'll graduate high school and head off to college. I don't want to think about that just yet. For now, for now I'll focus on you being 11 and all the joy you bring to my life.

Happy 8th Birthday, Ronin

Dear Ronin,

When you wake up tomorrow morning you will be 8 years old. Wow. 8. As Ella says, "you are taking my 8, just as I took Haley's 9."

8 is a big deal. You'll be entering 3rd grade in less than a month. You're going to start getting "real grades" in school. Probably lots of homework, too.

This past year we watched as you flourished in Cub Scouts. You are now officially a BEAR!!And this year in scouting you will learn all sorts of important skills that will enable you to be able to graduate to Webelos which means you can go CAMPING without mama or daddy. I know how excited you are to be able to do that!!

My biggest piece of advice for you, my sweet son, is to be patient. Patient with yourself, patient with your daddy, patient with your sisters, your dog, and me, your mama.

You are a good boy, a kind boy, and you hold a very special place in my heart. I can't wait to see how you are going to grow, mature, and flourish in your 8th year.

I love you,
