Ringling Bros Circus and Monster Jam-Tampa 2016

19. January 2016 18:01 by jennifer | 0 Comments

WOW!!! What a crazy whirlwind week it has been!

On Saturday January 9 we were invited to attend the Ringling Bros Circus and on Saturday January 16 we were invited to attend Monster Jam.

Both of these shows are produced by Feld Entertainment so for simplicity I'm going to discuss both of them in one post.

First, the circus.

This is a yearly tradition for us. One that dates to 2005 when our oldest child had not even turned a year old.

This year, we were two family members short Cry Ella got very very sick in the middle of the night the night before the show. Daddy took one for the team and stayed home with her while I ventured out with Haley and Ronin. Because of Ella not feeling well, the kids and I stayed at home for as long as possible so that Ella wouldn't feel like she was missing out on too much. We pretty much arrived just as the show was starting.

The opening was fantastic, as usual. But this year they had changed the format of the show, which was great for us! They had all our favorite performances BEFORE intermission.

We saw the Globe of Steel which is a family favorite!!

We saw the Lions and Tigers!!

And we saw the Elephants!

This year the elephant show was totally different! The audience was informed WHY the elephants perform the "tricks" that they do, and how those tricks would correspond to a natural movement that they would do in the wild. I really appreciated that bit of information.

Because Ella was sick, we left at Intermission. We stopped along the way and bought her a t-shirt, though. She was sick for the next 2 days. Poor little miss Surprised

But she wasn't sick for Monster Jam on January 16!!

We joined up with our friends and had a big kid party!! This was our friend's first time at Monster Jam and they loved it so much!!

The trucks were very exciting, and we all loved how El Toro Loco was driven by a woman AND she won the truck donut contest!! #LikeAGirl

It was loud, it was fun and of course...GRAVEDIGGER WON!! It was hit or miss there for a little bit! He got "hurt" and was pulled off the course. They said he wouldn't return, but of course HE DID...AND HE WON!!!

We had so much fun at both events, but having all 3 kids present at Monster Jam made this event our favorite this year! And it's not too late for you to get tickets to Monster Jam because they'll be back in Tampa on February 6 at 7pm. You can buy your tickets HERE.

We're already looking forward to next year's events and I'll be pumping all my kids full of Vitamin C leading up to the event! We can't have anyone missing out!

MONSTER JAM® roars into Raymond James Stadium on January 17th and February 7th

Disclosure: My family will receive 5 passes to attend this event in exchange for our honest review.   My family LOVES Monster Jam. We took the #TampaTrio on a whim back in 2012. We weren't sure how they would do with it, (mainly Ronin) because of the loudness. Ronin has Autism, and often loud noises really bother him. Like the Tampa Bay Rays Baseball games. He can't take that. It's funny how my LOUDEST CHILD, the one who makes the MOST NOISE, often can't stand loud noises himself. But we decided to go for it. And I'm so glad we did. They LOVED it!! We actually ended up with a "personal joke" between the family. See, there was this one truck. This big beautiful PINK Monster Truck. Painted along the side of it, it said MADUSA. I said to Haley, my oldest daughter (who was 8 at the time) "look Haley, that truck is called MAD USA, isn't that funny?" She looked at me, rolled her eyes and said "Mama, that is not MAD USA, it's Madusa (like Medusa, from Greek Mythology.) I said "NO WAY, it's got Stars all over it, it's got to be USA." She was adamant that is was pronounced like MEDUSA, so I told her we'd just have to wait until the announcer got to the part where he was announcing the names of all the trucks and their drivers. Well, wouldn't you know it, it was in fact pronounced like MEDUSA. And to this day, I have not lived that moment down. Grave Digger won that day, and this event began a HUGE fascination with monster trucks for Ronin. He's super excited to be heading back to Raymond James on January 17th. He loved watching the Monster Trucks drive over all the motor homes! That was his favorite part! And you can take your family, too!! Tampa will heat up this January and February when 1,500 horsepower, 10,000-pound monster trucks compete in side-by-side racing and the fan-favorite freestyle competition where each monster truck gets up to 120 seconds to “wow” the crowd with huge jumps, wheelies, truck-spinning donuts, flips, and the destruction of cars, vans, buses, motor homes and more.     Each show will be completely different – all 16 Monster Jam race teams will be different at each show! Highlighting the show on January 17th will be never before seen stunts, and Monster Jam superstar competitors including the tour’s only eleven-time World Champion, Tom Meents driving MAXIMUM DESTRUCTION; plus GRAVE DIGGER, ZOMBIE, EL TORO LOCO, AVENGER, MONSTER ENERGY,LUCAS OIL CRUSADER, the original MONSTER MUTT, the female-driven and hometown favorite MADUSA , and many more.   The completely different February 7th event will feature a different GRAVE DIGGER team driven by the sport’s icon Dennis Anderson, SON UVA DIGGER driven by Ryan Anderson, HOT WHEELS, ROTTWEILER, CAPTAIN’S CURSE, NEA, GUNSLINGER, ICE CREAM MAN, the female-driven MONSTER MUTT DALMATION, and more yet-to-be announced motorsports competitors.   Both shows have the same time; Gates Open at 5 p.m. Opening Ceremonies at 6:30 p.m. Racing begins at 7 p.m. The event will be held at Raymond James Stadium, 4201 N Dale Mabry Hwy, Tampa, FL 33607   PRICING: Advance purchase SuperValue Tickets are ONLY $15. If you are really into Monster Jam, there are $100 Total Access VIP Meet &Greet. You also have the other options, such as $40 Center Club, $35 Club Sideline / $25 Corners $20 and Zones.
