Jord #WoodWatch-A Review and Giveaway

Right before Christmas Jord Wood Watches reached out and asked if I was interested in reviewing one of their BEAUTIFUL wood watches. I said yes, and they sent me this beauty!

I put it right on, and went about my normal daily tasks including washing the dishes, taking a shower, bathing the #TampaTrio, you know, mom duties.

The next morning I got up and the watch was all foggy and DID NOT WORK. A quick peek at their website told me this:

Q.  Are JORD watches water resistant?

A.  JORD watches are considered to be splash proof. Normal wear and use can include kitchen activities, a day on the beach, the gym, etc. However, full submergence in water is not recommended both for the integrity of the movement and the wood itself. Excessive moisture exposure can result in a diminished flexibility in the bands wood links. If this occurs, allow the watch to dry for 1 to 2 days to allow the wood links to dry and return to their natural size.
I put the watch in some rice and gave it a few days, but NOPE. I broke it. Oops. I'm just so used to my Polar M400 and it's ability to do all activities.
I let Jord know what had happened and they were kind enough to send me out another #WoodWatch.
This time though, I was smart about it and I gifted it to a librarian co-worker. One who was used to taking her watch off for all activities, and was in desperate need of a new watch.

The following is a review from her:

Wearability:  It just fit my ample wrist, so I didn't need to remove any links.  This worked out well because there were no instructions! (Not so good for the not so mechanically inclined)

It was very comfortable and surprisingly lightweight.  The color was perfect!

Fashionability: (is there such a word?):  I thought the watch was beautiful!  It fit my personal casual style, but I felt it could also be worn as a statement piece with business wear- a nice suit perhaps.  My husband, who collects watches was very impressed  (might consider gifting one to him for our anniversary).  Only two other people remarked on the watch, both were men - I'm thinking that the wood and style may appeal more to men.  I maintain that it a beautiful watch!

Functionality:  Some instructions would help regarding setting the date, if you need to remove/add links or if it winds, has a battery or is works on movement.

Overall my friend really loves her new Jord #WoodWatch and Jord wants to give one of YOU your very own!

Potted Potter at the Straz # PottedPotterStraz

Accio, the summoning spell is a very useful spell in the world of Harry Potter. I'd use that in my library to summon all the wonderful books I need to read.

Also useful for me would be Expecto Patronum. When the world seems to be conspiring against you, just give your Patronus a call. No one will be able to take you out of your happy place when that glowing aura of goodness is hovering above you.

Life has been hard for our family recently. From broken bones, to multiple days of physical therapy, to the flu hitting our house H.A.R.D. I really felt that I needed to give my Patronus a call, and it answered with Potted Potter.

This show is famous for showcasing all seven Harry Potter books in 70 minutes. As much as I love all things Harry, I was curious to see how a two-man comedy act was going to accomplish this.

I met up with my fellow Tampa Bay Bloggers as well as a library co-worker (and fellow Harry Potter geek.)The first thing you need to know is that you DON’T need be a wizard to appreciate this show, and it's suitable for muggles of all ages. One character is a Harry Potter expert and the other pretends to be, but...well, he's not. This dynamic is what makes the show so funny.

I went to the Potted Potter opening performance in Tampa and I was amazed to see the variety of ages of all those who attended. From little ones to adults, everyone seemed to get all the jokes and was laughing out loud. I don’t want to give too much away but trust me when I say Dan and Jeff were able to entertain an entire audience from start to finish. Without a grand set or grand props, both performers hit all major plot points of the book series while wearing ridiculous wigs, singing, and playing a giant game of Quidditch with the audience.

This show is a must-see for those who want a goofy version of Harry Potter, or anyone who just wants to witness a little magic on stage.

I left the theater laughing, feeling upbeat with the stress of my day completely removed. My Patronus worked.

You can catch Potted Potter at the Straz Center in Tampa now through March 15th. Learn more about the show and purchase your tickets HERE.

Give & Grub and help end hunger in Tampa Bay

Recently, through my association with the Tampa Bay Bloggers, I was invited to attend an event that promised to not only fill my belly, but the bellies of hungry children throughout Tampa Bay.

Food insecurity runs rampant in Tampa, with one in four children going hungry on a daily basis. More than 700,000 individuals go hungry every single day in the Tampa Bay area. Many of those affected are children, but the elderly are also significantly impacted, with some having to choose between buying medication and buying food.

People who are food insecure do not know where their next meal is coming from, and that is why Give & Grub was created. They want to help. And giving back has never tasted so good. All you have to do is buy a meal—it is that simple. For every meal purchased at our Give & Grub food truck, another meal will be donated by Laser Spine Institute to a child of a family in need.

Give & Grub food truck serves gourmet food, with a mission to help the hungry. You will enjoy delicious dishes that are sure to have your taste buds singing. Experience some of the Tampa Bay Lightning players’ favorite meals, such as the Cooper’s Candied Burger, named after Coach Jon Cooper. This decadent burger will entice your taste buds with candied jalapeños. Also featured is the Chicken Parmkos Sandwich—a chicken parmesan sandwich named after player Steven Stamkos.

I was able to see all the delicious items they have to offer on the Give & Grub food truck.

But hands down, my favorite was the Chicken Parmkos Sandwich.

They also unveiled a brand new steak sandwich. And it was very very very good.

They are still trying to come up with a name for this sandwich and are asking for your help! I submitted the name

"Tampa Bay Filppula for Steak." It's supposed to be a play on words with player Valtteri Filppula name being said like "Flips", so Tampa Bay Flips for Steak. Ya, a long shot I know Wink

The Tampa Bay Bloggers had a great time meeting Thunderbug, who is now an honorary member of our group!

And of course, the opportunity to get many of together at the same time is always fantastic! It's always nice to catch up with old friends!
