52 Week Reading Challenge

I often post on my blog different challenges that I participate in. To date, ALL of those challenges have been FITNESS challenges. But here's a new challenge for all my readers. This is a READING challenge.

Technically you should read 52 books in a year, so one book a week. But like ALL challenges, this belongs to you. If reading 52 books in one year, or one book a week seems too daunting, then use one book for multiple weeks. You make this challenge YOURS!

Spartan Race Giveaway

I did my first Spartan Race last February. It was AWESOME!! You can read my recap HERE

As you are probably well aware, obstacle course races are all the rage!

And the Spartan Race Series offers a race distance for everyone!!

From the Spartan Sprint (3+ miles and 15+ obstacles) to the Spartan Super (8+ miles and 20+ obstacles) to the infamous Spartan Beast (12+ miles and 25+ obstacles,) the Spartan series appeals to beginners, elite OCR racers, and everyone in between.

I did the Spartan Sprint and it was the perfect length for me. Our Tampa course was 4 miles, and any obstacle I couldn't complete, I took the burpee penalty.

Spartan has some big news for 2015. The first noteworthy item is the Spartan UP! podcast which started THIS MONTH.  This free podcast will feature Spartan founder and CEO Joe DeSena’s interviews with a variety of successful people around the world. Authors, adventurers, athletes, and academics will be interviewed about what makes each one so successful at what they do. Sign up for this intriguing series here.

The next bit of news for 2015 is the Spartan Cruise coming in March.  This is a truly unique destination race!  This Caribbean Cruise will take participants on a 3 day cruise to Great Stirrup Cay, Bahamas.  A first of its kind private island Spartan Race will be held here. In addition to the race, cruisers will be able to train with the elites, meet Joe DeSena, hear expert speakers, and more. I would LOVE to take a Spartan Cruise. It sounds AMAZING!!

For those of you who can’t do just one Spartan Race, the 2015 Spartan season pass has been released.  This pass allows for unlimited Spartan racing!  Pass holders can race in any heat without extra charges, take advantage of free bag check, and get special hotel and rental car discounts. This pass is a must-buy for those training for a 2015 Trifecta.

2015 will also include a new venue for the Spartan World Championship.  This event will be held in beautiful Lake Tahoe, California in October 2015.

MetamorFit readers can save 10% off ANY Spartan race by using the code SPARTANBLOGGER.

But wait...there's MORE!!

I also have a GIVEAWAY good for ANY open heat (non-confirmed start time) in ANY Spartan Race in the continental US.

All you have to do to win is comment below letting me know which city you'd choose to run! You can see the list of available cities HERE. I'll choose the winner by Saturday January 17th.

Good luck and AROO!

Weight loss success with General Mills & Weight Watchers-GIVEAWAY!!

It's not secret that I lost over 200 pounds following the Weight Watchers program. Weight Watchers really taught me so much about myself, my eating habits, and how to make healthy food choices.  I was even featured in the 2012 NATIONAL TV Commercial Campaign for Weight Watchers. I heart Weight Watchers.

But during 2014 I really struggled. I mean really struggled.  I struggled with weight gain and am now in a place I honestly thought I'd never find myself again....in a battle to take off unwanted pounds.

I got a little complacent and thought that I "knew everything" and no longer needed to track my points. BIG MISTAKE. HUGE.

So I'm back on plan, and working hard to take off the 40ish pounds I put on over the past year. But if I took off 200, 40 is really a drop in the bucket.

One of my FAVORITE Weight Watchers endorsed product is the Broccoli Cheese from Green Giant. But not only is it a favorite of mine, but it's a favorite of Ronin's! The Broccoli Cheese is also one of my favorite "go to" items for lunch while I'm at work! It helps to keep me on track!

Green Giant makes it so easy to get in your vegetables! Simply take the box of Frozen Green Giant Vegetables, put them in the microwave, and viola, DINNER!!! They taste great with a grilled chicken breast and a lovely purple potato!
