Atkins Diet for a CrossFit Mom: Exploring the Plan

This post is sponsored by FitFluential on behalf of Atkins.

A couple of week ago I mentioned that I was going to be starting the Atkins Plan. Well, I have and I haven't.

Atkins was awesome in sending me out some amazing products to try.

And they also sent some snack bars, treats, and shakes!

This is all part of me following the Atkins 40 plan. What does that mean? Easy. 40 net carbs per day.

Eating some of the Atkins frozen meals, bars, shakes and treats makes it SUPER easy to count net carbs because everything is listed right on their packaging.

I really did like the delicious Atkins shakes, which have 8 flavors (I had chocolate) and contain an optimal low-sugar mix of protein and essential vitamins and minerals. I had the shake for breakfast. It was easy, and it was yummy.

I also had the Atkins stone fired cheese pizza. It was VERY good!!

But I didn't get to try any of the snacks. Why not?

My 8 year old son ate them ALL before I could get a taste. But he did say that they were very good.

I've been learning a lot while on the Atkins 40, and I'll talk more about that in my next post. But in a nutshell, on the Atkins 40 I've been eating:

  1. More vegetables than the USDA recommends
  2. Meats, fish, poultry, and plant-based proteins
  3. Healthy fats including olive oil, avocado and nuts
  4. Dairy including whole Greek yogurt and cheeses
  5. And a variety of fruits and whole grains.

GONE is the Atkins program of the 1990's where all you ate was steak, and eggs.

I say I have and I haven't been following the plan because carb counting has been a challenge for me. Sure, eating the prepacked foods from Atkins makes it easy, but I have no other tools to help me with tracking carbs. Atkins online is 100% FREE and there is a resource center, recipes, meal plans, and other tools available at Atkins.com, but I haven't had time to give it my all. BUT SOON! SOON I WILL!!

I'll be back next month to share more of what I'm learning, and tell you how I managed to survive Thanksgiving!

#SmoochUrPooch with TropiClean Advanced Cleaning System

This post is sponsored by TropiClean and the BlogPaws Professional Pet Blogger Network. I am being compensated for helping spread the word about TropiClean Dental Products, but MetamorFit only shares information we feel is relevant to our readers. TropiClean is not responsible for the content of this article

A few weeks ago I shared that we had received some products from TropiClean to help Matthew with his stinky dog breath.

We received 3 different products to try out and I decided to have Matthew try out the Dental Chews first.

I LOVED that these chews were gluten free, grain free, corn free, wheat free, AND contained Flaxseed.

But I noticed something when I opened the package.

They sent me the chews for SMALL dogs up to 20 pounds. Undecided

I literally laughed out loud at that one. Matthew weighs in at a svelte 130 pounds. Would that mean that I would need to give him 6 chews to get the benefit of non-stinky dog breath??

I tweeted the company and asked, but no one ever got back with me. So I decided to use my best judgement and just give him ONE.

HE LOVED it. Gobbled it right down.

The Dental Chews Advanced Cleaning System are natural, healthy products. And like I mentioned they are made with whole flaxseed and green tea, and the dental chews are made with a unique design so that, as your dog chews down, the mechanical action of the chewing simulates brushing, helping to reduce plaque and tartar between cleanings.

I think it did make an improvement in Matthew's tartar buildup.

And it certainly did help in his overall dog breath smell.

The flaxseed works as an abrasive while the chew’s baking soda and parsley help freshen your dog’s breath. The green tea extract helps promote dental wellness.

He's such a good boy just sniffing his treat and waiting for my command to eat it. Love this dog.
