Disclosure: My daughter was provided a Nokia Lumia 635 to review on behalf of AT&T. No other compensation was received, and she returned the phone after a 2 week review period.

When I got the chance of reviewing this phone for AT&T I was so exited I fell down. After all, I had been begging my parents for a phone since I was in the 1st grade. I jumped on the opportunity to review the one and only… Nokia Lumia 635.
When I received the phone from my mother I knew that this was it, the phone I had so long waited for! The Nokia Lumia 635 is great for back to school. The charge will hold for at least 2 days (at the most.) It is portable and can come with you to school. It fits in your back-pack ready for when you need it! I downloaded fun games to do after school work and games to help with school work .
The Nokia Lumia is highly affordable at the cost of $99.99!
When I started reviewing this excellent phone my brother and sister both gazed in amazement wondering when it would be their turn. The Nokia Lumia 635 is remarkably easy to use. It only involves the little bit of touch you need to control it. It runs on Windows just like my computer! It was just so easy I couldn’t get it out of my head, and I was so sad when I had to give it back. I loved it so much I'm seriously considering buying one with all the allowance money I've saved up.
So there you have Haley's review of the phone. Now from an adult standpoint...
This was a GREAT little phone. I say little because I have the Nokia Lumia 1520, which is at least twice as large and heavy as the 635. But I loved that it was little and could fit in the palm of my hand (and her's, too!!) I also loved the price tag. At $99, I wasn't super paranoid that she was going to lose or break it and we'd not be able to repair or replace it.
The Lumia 635 comes pre-installed with many apps to get you started, and thousands more are available on the Windows Phone Store. And with expandable storage up to 128GB, there's plenty of room to store your favorite apps, photos, music and more. We didn't allow Haley to download any apps or music that she'd have to buy since she was going to be returning the phone. But she LOVED taking photos with it, and the pictures were crisp and clear.
And I loved that I could reach her QUICKLY and easily. I always said I'd never allow my kids to have a phone until middle school, but after this trial run, I might be rethinking that idea. As the parent it's up to ME to teach her how to safely navigate the social media world, and I was checking the phone every night to see if she had downloaded any social apps that I had not approved (like Facebook, etc..) the only social app I allowed her to download was Instagram, and I made her show me each photo that she posted to her IG account BEFORE she posted it.
Overall I was very very happy with both this phone and how my daughter handled herself with the phone. It was a great trial run! There were a lot of things she didn't get to do with it, like play with Microsoft Office, or the personal assistant, but what she did get to use she LOVED!

How old was your child when you got them their first cell phone?
